Can local authorities use the hardship fund to give a temporary increase for hourly rate, delivered through direct payment, to domiciliary and supported living service care providers?

Answered by Deputy Minister for Social Services | Answered on 25/11/2021

The adult social care component of the Hardship Fund provides support for unfunded care places, alongside an uplift for residential care and supported living placements and an hourly uplift for care at home. This uplift is calculated using a standardised formula based on the numbers of care hours delivered, and commissioned by local authorities.

The Social Care Recovery fund also enables local commissioners to support their providers in a more flexible way by targeting the support where that is needed most.
