Will the Welsh Government confirm that Wales's two children's hospices, Tŷ Hafan and Tŷ Gobaith, will receive an uplift in funding from the Government, creating a sustainable funding settlement for children with life-limiting conditions in Wales, ahead of the draft budget for 2022/23?

Answered by Minister for Health and Social Services | Answered on 16/11/2021

The Welsh Government recognises the incredibly important role that hospices provide and reviewing both adult and children’s hospice funding is a key Programme for Government commitment.

Work to review hospice funding is being led by the NHS Collaborative/End of Life Care Board and is progressing well. All hospices have completed financial templates and one to one interviews with hospices have also been completed. Contact has also been made with the Scottish Government and CHAS (Children’s Hospices Across Scotland) to see what can be learned from the funding model operating in Scotland.

The report is currently being finalised and recommendations for future funding are scheduled to be available later this month. These recommendations will feed into the budget setting process for 2022/23.
