What consideration has been given to ensuring that people who are house-bound receive the COVID-19 booster vaccination according to the timetable recommended by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation, i.e. six months after their second vaccination?

Following the current advice from the JCVI, Booster doses should be offered no earlier than six months after completion of the primary vaccine course.

Provision and plans are in place for people who are housebound and for care homes, which will mean the vaccine can be safely taken to them using a mobile service if they are unable to attend a GP surgery or mass vaccination centre.

Health boards have details on those who might not be able to get to a vaccination centre or a surgery. In this circumstance health boards will either instruct the mobile team (community nurses) or the GP to deliver the vaccine to the individual.

Additionally, some pharmacies are assisting with the COVID-19 vaccine delivery. This will support our delivery approach and strengthen our capability to administer the vaccine within communities
