What plans does the Welsh Government have to join the National Pancreatic Cancer Audit?

Answered by Minister for Health and Social Services | Answered on 03/11/2021

I am committed to supporting the NHS in Wales to improve cancer outcomes. One of the important actions the Welsh Government undertakes to enable this is the funding of a National Clinical Audit and Outcome Review Programme. This Programme measures services against professional standards and compares providers across the UK. It is designed to help local teams understand the quality of their service and to encourage quality improvement approaches.

In September 2021, I approved funding for the National Clinical Audit and Outcome Review Programme to extend to cancers of the ovary, pancreas and kidney, as well as for non-Hodgkin lymphoma and metastatic breast cancer. The addition of these new audits to the Programme is subject to a procurement process being delivered on behalf of the Welsh Government by the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership. Therefore, I do not wish to comment further at this time.
