Will the Minister provide an update on the activities of army personnel in supporting the Welsh Ambulance Service, specifically the number of responses they have attended to date in the county of Powys?

Answered by Minister for Health and Social Services | Answered on 26/10/2021

I can confirm military support for the Welsh Ambulance Service commenced on 19 October, with an initial tranche of fifty military personnel supporting ambulance driving in response to 999 calls across Wales.

They will be joined by a further fifty personnel, who will become operational from week commencing 25 October, following completion of necessary training and familiarisation.  A team of additional supporting staff, including military planners, will also provide support to the Welsh Ambulance Service until the end of November.

Detail on utilisation of military support at a local level is not held centrally by Welsh Government.
