Will the Minister outline the process for closing maintained schools in Wales and provide details on whether a decision of a local authority to proceed with a school closure can be called in by the Welsh Government?

Answered by Minister for Education and the Welsh Language | Answered on 07/10/2021

When proposing significant changes to maintained schools, including closure, local authorities and other proposers must comply with the School Standards and Organisation (Wales) Act 2013 and the School Organisation Code. A range of factors must be taken into account, the prime consideration being the interests of the learners.
