Will the First Minister explain the most recent guidance regarding the collection and disposal of the bodies of those who have lost their lives to COVID-19?

Answered by Minister for Finance and Local Government | Answered on 01/10/2021

The regulations issued by the Welsh Government on 14 September 2021 suspended the temporary emergency provisions relating to the transportation, storage and disposal of dead bodies introduced by section 58 of the Coronovirus Act 2020 in response to the onset of the pandemic (links to these are included below).  In consequence the regulations re-introduced the arrangements that applied prior to the enactment of the 2020 Act and at the start of the pandemic. In the event of further waves and spikes of infection the emergency provisions could be reintroduced when required.
