Will the Minister explain why the slip road at junction 28 of the M4 is reduced to one lane leading from the motorway to Forge Road?

Answered by Deputy Minister for Climate Change | Answered on 29/09/2021

The eastbound off slip is closed due to ongoing bridgeworks taking place at the Ebbw River bridge. There is also a lane reduction on the eastbound on slip to allow works access to the site area. Due to the lane arrangements and road markings on Junction 28, the off slip lane is closed for safety and to allow drivers to use the junction without having any conflict points as they use the interchange.

The lane closure will remain in place on the off slip and on slip until the bridge works are completed, which is in April 2022.
