Does the Welsh Government have any plans to introduce key worker exemptions from self-isolation if they are contacted by the NHS test and trace app?

Answered by Minister for Health and Social Services | Answered on 05/08/2021

The First Minister announced on 14 July that from 7 August, we will remove the requirement for people who are fully vaccinated, and under 18, to self-isolate if they are a close contact of someone who has tested positive.

The First Minister also announced that there would be additional safeguards in place for people who work in health and social care settings. We are currently working on those arrangements and guidance will issue shortly.

The NHS Covid-19 App users should continue to follow the self-isolation advice if they receive a notification. It is a legal requirement to self-isolate if instructed by the TTP service. The NHS COVID-19 App is not covered by this legal duty because the App is anonymous and the privacy of users is protected. NHS COVID-19 App users should follow the instruction to self-isolate to help minimise the spread of the virus. The NHS Covid-19 App will be updated with information for users to alert them to the changes to self-isolation exemptions in Wales.
