What are the Welsh Government's priority sectors for driving a green recovery?
We are continuing to work closely with Regional Skills Partnerships to identify the green skills required to drive economic recovery. The Partnerships are currently focusing on this issue and a report on green skills is expected to be shared with Welsh Government in the autumn.
On the matter of priority sectors, we want a greener economy which demands high levels of circularity, where resources are kept in use adding economic value and where waste is avoided. This can create jobs and skills opportunities in new industries from renewables to repair. This economy is integral to a low carbon society, so we will invest in low-carbon and climate resilient infrastructure, nature-based solutions, renewable energy projects and sustainable homes.
We intend to put net-zero skills at the centre of the economic recovery. This is an important priority for the Welsh Government and we will outline plans to help employers, trades unions, skills providers, education and individuals capitalise on job opportunities emerging from the net-zero transition.
