Will the Minister state what steps the Welsh Government is taking to encourage some of the 3.9 per cent of 16 to 64-year-olds who are unemployed in Wales to apply for jobs or train for careers in tourism and hospitality?

This is a key commitment in ‘Let’s Shape the Future’ and work is already underway with stakeholders to address skills, recruitment and retention issues.   My officials are also collaborating with the Wales Tourism and Hospitality Skills Partnership and other key partners, such as Careers Wales, to plan a recruitment campaign, highlighting the range of sustainable career opportunities available within the sector.

In addition, tourism and hospitality vacancies feature as part of the Working Wales job vacancy bulletin for young people.  Welsh Government has launched a new Job Matching pilot in North Wales and Cardiff to improve the connections between young people and local jobs.

Young people can receive free professional advice and guidance about their future careers and choices by contacting Working Wales on-line, by telephone or face to face.   They can also access a dedicated page on the Working Wales website for the Young People’s Guarantee (Young People's Guarantee | Working Wales (gov.wales).
