Are there plans to establish a specialist cancer diagnosis centre in the Rhondda?

There are no plans for a specific cancer diagnostic centre within the Rhondda. Patients from the Rhondda can be referred already to the health board’s Rapid Diagnostic Centre (RDC) at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital. The RDC provides an accelerated diagnostic pathway for patients who present in primary care with vague but concerning symptoms which may be indicative of cancer. It provides rapid access to a range of diagnostic tests, in one location, and conducted on one visit when possible; with several specialists working together to speed up patient diagnosis. The RDC commenced in July 2017 and since that time has positively impacted patient experience and outcomes
