Does the Welsh Government have any plans to create a European Transport Hub in Wales for the shipment of Shellfish?
Logistic transport hubs are commercially operated therefore need to be economically viable for the logistic companies. We have worked with other fisheries administrations and industry to establish interest in, and need for a hub, to service the Welsh industry.
Feedback from all interested parties suggests a hub would need to be positioned on an exit route to the EU, to service both England and Wales, to be economically viable. Welsh Government officials are working with DEFRA, the seafood industry and local authorities to scope options for a hub in the south west of England, which could service Wales and the South West.
