Will the Minister confirm whether the Welsh Government’s green homes grant will cover the double glazing of homes that are currently single glazed?
The Green Homes Grant Scheme was introduced by the UK Government in July 2021. The scheme was available in England only and has now closed to applications. In most cases, a financial contribution from the householder was required.
Secondary glazing is available to lower income owner occupier and private rented households in Wales through our Warm Homes Programme. Subject to meeting eligibility requirements, secondary glazing can be installed if recommended as part of a whole house assessment. No financial contribution is required from the householder.
A public consultation on proposals for the next iteration of the Warm Homes Programme is expected to start no later than the end of December 2021. The home energy efficiency measures which could be included in our scheme, such as replacement windows, will be part of the consultation.
