Will the Minister provide a breakdown of the number of successful and unsuccessful applications to the Glastir woodland creation scheme in 2019-20 and 2020-21, along with hectares planted and amount spent during these years?

During this period, there were four Glastir Woodland Creation Expression of Interest (EoI) windows (7-10).

A total of 1,117 eligible EoI applications were received. 599 were selected totalling 4,439.34 hectares of planting with a potential grant value of £20,979, 546.

Of these, 476 accepted a contract offer with a planting area of 4,690.95 hectares and a total potential grant value of £18,044,142.

Due to planning and Natural Resources Wales verification requirements most of the applications are for the 2022 and 2023 planting season.

To date 143.33 hectares of planting has been completed, with 17.38 hectares confirmed and paid at a value of £70,177.

Official statistics on woodland creation in Wales in 2019-20 will be published on 17 June by Forest Research.
