What enhanced support is the Welsh Government making available, in addition to the support made available by the UK Government, to assist homes and businesses wanting to access gigabit broadband services and Community Fibre Partnerships?
The Welsh Government provides enhanced support in Wales to the UK Government’s Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme by topping up voucher values where the default ceilings are inadequate. The maximum scheme voucher values for residents and businesses in Wales can increase significantly in recognition of challenging topography and longer distances from distribution infrastructure, which can increase build costs. As a result of this intervention, the maximum voucher values for qualifying businesses in Wales may be as high as £7,000 (£3,500 DCMS and up to £3,500 Welsh Government top-up). For residents in Wales the maximum funding per voucher will be £3,000 (£1,500 DCMS and up to £1,500 Welsh Government top-up). In all cases, DCMS funding will be allocated before any funding from the Welsh Government is applied.
