With regard to comments made on vaccine passports on 14 May 2021, will the First Minister provide further information on access to such information through the Welsh NHS app and what discussions has been held to date with the UK Government on compatibility between Welsh and UK apps?

As I announced on 14 May from Monday 24 May, a paper-based vaccination status certificate will be available for people in Wales who have had two doses of vaccination and need to urgently travel to a country that requires covid vaccination proof. A telephone number for this service will be available from 00:01 on Monday 24 May. The paper-based covid status statement is based on the same format as the UK Government one.

We are working closely with the UK government on how Welsh citizens can access the NHS-app based covid status certificates. However we were informed by UK Government that it was not possible to do this ahead of 17 May 2021, we are awaiting more detail from them on timescales.

However, the Welsh Government continues to advise people to only travel abroad for essential purposes.
