What discussions has the Minister had with the local authority and other agencies to improve access and public services to and from the new Department for Work and Pensions site at Trefforest industrial estate?

My officials have liaised with Merthyr Tydfil Council, which is the regional lead authority for the Metro Plus Scheme, about using the Local Transport Fund to purchase land for the proposed new Treforest Estate Station.

The station will be immediately adjacent to the DWP site and will benefit from up to 12 trains an hour running between Pontypridd and Cardiff in the future.

We will be undertaking further WelTAG studies along the southern section of the A470 that runs through Rhondda Cynon Taf administrative area. A new active travel link at Nantgarw will also improve connectivity for pedestrians.
