Will the Minister provide a breakdown of the financial support provided to support the treatment of eating disorders as outlined in the 2021-22 final budget, along with breakdowns for 2019-20 and 2020-21?

Answered by Minister for Mental Health, Well-being and the Welsh Language | Answered on 23/03/2021

We have continued to prioritise investment for Eating Disorder Services and since 2017 health boards now receive an additional £2.5m to support improvements in services and waiting times. This is in addition to funding for eating disorder services that health boards prioritise locally from within the mental health ring fence.

The outlined prioritised spend for the £42m additional funding for mental health (2021/22) will be allocated to support the delivery of a number of mental health priorities. This will include £7million services improvement funding which will be made available to health board to improve priority areas, including eating disorder services.

Bids for 2021/22 targeted towards delivering improvements in specific priority areas will be considered in the coming months.

Service Improvement Funding which was targeted at Eating Disorder Services for 2019/21 and 2020/21 is summarised in the tables below.  This is additional funding to the recurrent £500k provided across health boards from 2017.
