What commitments has the Welsh Government made to ensure that any planned changes to lockdown restrictions and shielding guidance, ahead of the end of March, are communicated in a clear and timely manner to those deemed clinically extremely vulnerable, such as people with cystic fibrosis?

Welsh Government holds three televised press conference briefings every week to keep the Welsh citizens updated on the latest Covid-19 situation. There is also a considerable amount of information on the Welsh Government website, including Frequently Asked Questions in relation to the restrictions and the latest scientific evidence published by the Technical Advisory Group.

As with all previous communication of planned changes to advice for the clinically extremely vulnerable, all those on the shielding patient list will receive a letter containing information in regards to the advice they should follow. A written statement will be published on the Welsh Government website and guidance and Frequently Asked Questions will be updated. There will also be communication of the changes via Welsh Government social media sites.

We utilise our relationships with a large number of third-sector organisations and Local Authority shielding leads and communicate any changes via our contacts with these stakeholders.

All those on the shielding patient list have the option to sign up to receive SMS and/or email alerts. Alerts are sent out when a relevant statement is made or new guidance is published.
