Will the Welsh Government confirm if adults with moderate learning difficulties are prioritised in tier 6 of the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation priority groups, under the grounds that it constitutes a severe or profound learning disability?

We are vaccinating people who are most at-risk of catching coronavirus and developing serious illnesses first, according to the recommendations from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI).

The JVCI recommended that people with severe and profound learning disability should be vaccinated in the current priority group (cohort 6).  That language is rarely used in Wales and our preference is for inclusion over exclusion for this group of the population to ensure no one in this group is missed or left behind.

We have published guidance, which sets out our inclusive approach to the identification of people with severe/profound learning disability and serious mental illness who will be offered vaccination in group six: https://gov.wales/covid-19-vaccinations-individuals-learning-disability-or-severe-mental-illness-html
