In regards to the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency’s failure to authorise the daily use of 30-minute tests, what are the Welsh Government's plans to use testing as part of its plans to re-open schools?
We have received assurances from the UK Government Department for Health and Social Services that this is not true; the MHRA has not refused to approve rapid testing in schools. We will continue with our plans of offering testing to find positive cases and break the chains of transmission. In addition, as part of an ongoing evaluation, we have offered daily contact testing in schools. The evidence and lessons from these and other evaluations will be used to inform our review of the effect of daily contact testing on breaking chains of transmission and any future plans.
