Will the Minister confirm whether the £32m that has been set aside in the 2021-2022 Welsh Government budget to deal with the fire safety and cladding issues in Wales will be provided to homeowners in the form of grants and/or loans?
We are currently exploring ways forward that serve the best interests of both leaseholders and taxpayers, recognising the role building owners also need to play in funding this remediation. We are considering funding options to make buildings with identified defects safe, support leaseholders and protect them from the full costs of remediation work. This work is at an early stage and we are exploring options for grant, loans and hybrid models. No commitments have been made. I will make an announcement in due course about how any such funding can be accessed.
