What is the net cost of the school meals service in Wales?

The Welsh Government does not collect data at this level – local authorities only provide information on net expenditure on school catering.
Funding for Free School meals is provided to local Government through the Revenue Support Grant. The local government settlement is un-hypothecated funding for statutory and non statutory services including free school meals.
