In light of studies showing a strong association between the incidence and severity of COVID-19 with vitamin D deficiencies in patients, has the Welsh Government considered supplying or making an official recommendation to the public regarding the consumption of a vitamin D supplement?

The Welsh Government already advises that people take a vitamin D supplement during winter months. This advice can be found at:

The Welsh Government is not aware of any robust evidence that vitamin D3 deficiency is a causal factor in the incidence or severity of COVID-19.
There are no intentions to provide vitamin D supplements to certain categories of people.
