Will the Minister provide the evidence and justification behind his claim that the Development Bank of Wales has made as many COVID loans to businesses as all the UK government-backed COVID loans offered through high street banks?
Answered by Minister for Economy, Transport and North Wales | Answered on 11/11/2020
The Development Bank of Wales mobilised all teams to respond to demand, with the first loans being approved within three days of its Covid fund launch (on 30 March). A total of 1,331 business accessed loan facilities of just over £92m helping to safeguard over 16,000 jobs.
By 14 April, we estimate the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme provided some 850 loans to Welsh businesses. I was referring to this period of time in my press conference.
