Will the Welsh Government give examples of the various scenarios under which positive cases would be included in the resident outside Wales category in the COVID-19 confirmed case data for Wales published daily by Public Health Wales?

There are a number of scenarios that account for the resident outside of Wales category in the COVID-19 confirmed case data published daily by Public Health Wales.  Examples include:

  • Individuals who are admitted to a hospital in Wales and are tested for COVID-19 through the NHS Wales lab, however the individual’s home address is outside of Wales.
  • Individuals who are tested because they work in a health and social care environment in Wales and have their test processed through the NHS Wales labs, but again, have a residential address outside of Wales.
  • University students who are currently residing in Wales and have been tested in a Welsh testing centre, but who have a family address outside of Wales which has been used when completing their details for a test.
  • University students who historically reside in Wales but are currently attending University outside of Wales and have included their home address when completing their details for a test.
