What evidence does the Welsh Government hold on the source of transmission for COVID-19 infections identified over the course of the last four weeks in Wales, as of 14 October 2020?

Through our Test, Trace, Protect system all new cases of Covid-19 are contacted by contact tracers.  Contact tracers provide advice and reassurance and gather details of close contacts who will be asked to self-isolate.

Contact tracers endeavour to understand how and where contacts might have been exposed to the virus. Information gathered by contact tracers is supplemented by investigations undertaken by regional teams to identify how transmission is occurring. This information is analysed and each health board area shares this intelligence with Welsh Government. This enables us to identify places of high risk but it does not identify exact sources of infection.
