What are the guidelines for community choirs, and are they able to meet in groups of six to sing, adhering to social distancing?
The Welsh Government has published guidance covering rehearsal, performance and participation, developed by the Arts Council of Wales in collaboration with our cultural sectors. This includes guidance on singing which should be considered carefully by any choirs wishing to rehearse: https://gov.wales/rehearsing-performing-and-taking-part-performing-arts-guidance-phased-return-html#section-50444.
Under the coronavirus regulations in Wales, a gathering indoors may not, without reasonable excuse, consist of more than six members of an extended household, not including any children under the age of 11. A gathering outdoors may not, without reasonable excuse, consist of more than 30 people.
In areas where local restrictions are in place, people can only meet indoors with people they live with.
Community choirs should only meet if they can do so within the scope of the restrictions currently in place in their local area, adhering to rules on social distancing and all other relevant guidance.
