Will the Minister confirm whether tailoring/seamstress types of businesses which work a) primarily from their own home or b) visit other people's homes, are now allowed to operate, following the recent changes to Covid-19 regulations and guidance?
I can confirm that following the opening of ‘non-essential retail’ as of 22nd June, tailoring/seamstress types of businesses are now able to operate, whether this be at home or visiting other properties.
Our advice, however, is that both the tradesperson and household members should be well and have no symptoms of coronavirus. Like other businesses, tradespeople must take all reasonable measures to ensure that social distancing and other appropriate safety measures are maintained at all times when working in other people’s households
We recommend no work should be carried out in any household which is isolating or where a person who is classed as extremely vulnerable is undertaking ‘shielding’ measures, unless it is to repair a fault which poses a direct risk to people’s safety.
