What assessment has the First Minister made of the independence of members of the committee relating to the dumping of sediment dredged in Bridgwater Bay, as part of the Hinkley Point C construction programme, particularly those with backgrounds in sectors with links to the nuclear industry?

The Hinkley Point C expert committee which I announced on 19 February 2020 is being established to advise Ministers on a range of different matters that might arise in the Hinkley context. The consideration of sediment is not the motivation for its creation, but can form part of its considerations. In terms of the committee membership, a chair for the group has been identified and group membership has been discussed on the basis of the appropriate environmental skills required. All proposed members of the stakeholder group have been nominated on the basis of their ability to provide expert knowledge and no currently proposed member is in the employ of the nuclear industry. An update will be published once discussions have been concluded with nominated individuals, setting out full details of membership.
