Will the Welsh Government set out the detailed methods by which it will measure the reproduction rate for Wales as lockdown measures are eased?

Answered by First Minister | Answered on 05/06/2020

Estimates of Rt (the reproduction number) are currently produced once a week by academic groups which feed into the Scientific Pandemic Influenza Group on Modelling (SPI-M) and the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE).

We will use a range for Rt for Wales, based on these estimates and continue to closely monitor changes in the reproduction number. These estimates use a range of methods and are based on measuring trends in confirmed cases, hospital admissions and deaths from coronavirus. Further information is available in the TAC Modelling publication, dated 7 May 2020.
