Given concerns in relation to the impact of significant numbers of visitors to tourist destinations and the risks that this may pose to local NHS services and residents, what is the Welsh Government's advice to holiday accommodation providers or second home and holiday caravan owners in respect of coronavirus?
I announced on 23 March that Caravan parks, campsites, tourist hotspots and popular beauty spots were to be closed to visitors with immediate effect. This is to keep people safe and to reduce the pressure on our NHS. This message was reinforced by the Prime Minister’s broadcast on the same day.
Visit Wales/Welsh Government also issued on 25 March specific Covid-19 - Guidance for Holiday Park Owners and Operators on the Health Protection (Coronavirus: Closure of Leisure Businesses, Footpaths and Access Land) (Wales) Regulations 2020.
Visit Wales continues to update the Tourism Industry regularly through its Industry News updates. These have also included details of the £1.4bn business support package announced on 19 March which are in addition to the measures announced by the Chancellor last week to alleviate the strain on businesses.
The Industry has also been made aware of the tailored advice available from Business Wales, and the need to regularly visit the Public Health Wales website for up to date information.
