What assessment of the Barnett consequential for Wales has been made regarding the UK Prime Minister's announcement of £5 billion of new investment in buses and bicycles on the 11 February 2020?
The Barnett formula consequentials for Wales for years beyond 2020-21 will only be known when the UK Government has completed its spending review later this year. We do not yet know what period the spending review will cover. There may also be changes to 2020-21 following the UK Government’s March Budget. Until we know how announcements on individual programmes will be financed, it will not be clear whether they represent new funding or if they are offset by reductions elsewhere. I will continue to call for Wales to receive its fair share of any funding increases.
