Will the Minister outline what considerations the Welsh Government has given to the impact that the recent findings of the Sir Mike Richards review of screening programmes in England may have on Wales?

Answered by Minister for Health and Social Services | Answered on 24/01/2020

The majority of recommendations from the review of cancer screening services in England do not apply to Wales due to differences in how screening services are delivered in each country. However, all four countries rely on advice from the national body, the UK National Screening Committee, whose future role and composition was discussed within the review. As such, the Chief Medical Officer for Wales will be co-chairing a UK advisory committee, established to explore the recommendations around future expert advice, and its applicability across the four nations.
