Will the Minister provide the latest tree planting figures in Wales, providing an annual breakdown for the duration of the fifth Assembly to date?

The main elements of publicly funded tree planting within the Welsh Government  are the Glastir Woodland Creation (GWC), Glastir Restoration schemes (GWR) and , restocking on the Welsh Government’s Woodland Estate (WGWE) and the PLANT! Scheme:  

  • GWC – Glastir Woodland Creation – Welsh Government offer funding new woodland creation.
  • GWR – Glastir Restoration – replanting areas of larch felled due to ramorum disease.
  • WGWE – Welsh Government Woodland Estate – restocking of areas harvested.
  • PLANT! – aims to plant a native Welsh broadleaf tree for every child born or adopted in Wales.
