Will the Minister confirm that all of the funding for the National Dementia Action Plan was spent in its first year, and outline what amount has been allocated for the second year?

Answered by Minister for Health and Social Services | Answered on 25/07/2019

Achieving the ambitions set out in the National Dementia Action Plan requires a cross-government, multi-agency and society-wide response. Officials working in the health, social services, housing, education and local government departments have been involved in the development and implementation of the plan. It is not possible to quantify how many people have contributed to this work.

£6.511m of the £10m available funding was spent in 2018-19. Not all the funding allocated was spent in the first year due to the lead-in time for the recruitment of additional staff and the commencement of work streams.

Regional partnership boards have submitted bids for the funding for this financial year.

The Welsh Government website has recently been restructured. Updates from the Dementia Oversight Implementation and Impact Group are being shared with group members and will be published on the website as soon as practicable.
