Why will the staff of the Traffic Commissioner's office not all be located together?

Answered by Minister for Economy and Transport | Answered on 17/06/2019

The new office for the Traffic Commissioner for Wales will be based in Caernarfon, North West Wales within the Penrallt office of Gwynedd Council. This will be in addition to the current office in Cardiff, and my officials continue to work with Transport for Wales (TfW) to allocate space for the Commissioner in the TfW building in Pontypridd once completed in 2021. The new office in Caernarfon will be completed shortly.

Recruitment for three support staff who will be based in the same office in Caernarfon has already commenced with interviews to take place during July with appointments to be made shortly thereafter.

My officials are working closely with the Driver, Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and the Office of the Traffic Commissioner to deliver both elements.

This is excellent news for North West Wales and the local economy of Caernarfon as well as the PSV and HGV industries in Wales.
