Purpose
The purpose of the Bilingual Educational Resources Stakeholders Group is to ensure that key stakeholders are informed of and involved in developing and establishing an infrastructure for the production of bilingual educational resources to support the curriculum and qualifications in Wales.
The Group's role:
- Provide advice and external challenge on the future direction for the production of bilingual educational resources in Wales.
- Engage constructively with the Welsh Government and its delivery partners, providing appropriate recommendations.
- Act as a ‘critical friend’, providing feedback on proposals and progress with establishing an infrastructure, identifying opportunities, priorities and risks and suggesting solutions.
- Assist the Welsh Government by positively communicating key messages and helping to develop consensus across the sector.
- Gather and feed back stakeholders’ views to the Welsh Government.
c) Next steps
- Consider the list of resource needs identified by the Areas of Learning and Experience working groups, and agree a three-year provision scheme based on curriculum, qualifications and professional development priorities.
- Develop a model/models for bilingual provision in the short term to meet initial requirements, and in the long term to secure permanent provision.
- Identify the necessary budget, allocating against priorities.
