WAQ78029 (e) Tabled on 20/03/2019

Further to the answer to WAQ77971, will the Minister explain why there is no specific budget line for carers, and reconsider this?

Answered by Deputy Minister for Health and Social Services | Answered on 27/03/2019

Welsh Government’s support for carers takes many forms in order to deliver against the three national priorities for carers. This can include: improving support in primary care settings, for example in General Practices; increasing the availability and forms of respite; access to advocacy; and information, advice and assistance services.

The corresponding funding is distributed through Welsh Government to statutory bodies and third sector carers’ organisations, including via grant and direct funding. The corresponding budget structure therefore reflects this multi-layered approach.
