What assessment has been made of fire risk and age of domestic properties in Wales?

Answered by Minister for Housing and Local Government | Answered on 22/01/2019

Whilst older properties which are poorly maintained and terraced houses with a common roof void may be more at risk of fire, most accidental dwelling fires are caused by unsafe behaviour, not unsafe buildings. The Fire and Rescue Service is responsible for analysing and managing the fire risks in its area and for taking measures to mitigate them. They also provide comprehensive advice on domestic fire safety, focusing on the households at greatest risk.
