Will the Cabinet Secretary provide an update on the draft Additional Learning Needs Code, as well as a timetable for its publication?
The development of the draft Additional Learning Needs Code is well underway and I anticipate publishing it for consultation later this term. In developing the Code my officials have considered the recommendations relevant to the Code that were made by the Children, Young People and Education Committee in their Stage 1 report on the Additional Learning Needs and Education Tribunal (Wales) Bill.
The consultation period will run for 15 weeks and my officials will engage with stakeholders during this period.
I expect to lay the Code before the Assembly in 2019 in order to have the final draft of the Code available for implementation in 2020.
