How long will the Welsh Government continue to use 2008 and 2009 - the start of the TB health check - as a reference to provide headline statistics on TB reduction levels, given that these years represent some of the highest levels of bovine ever TB recorded?

Statements made on changes in disease levels since 2008 are intended to measure progress since the introduction of the TB Eradication Programme.

Whilst the annual number of new TB incidents peaked in 2008, this is used as a reference due to the more frequent testing intervals introduced from this point through TB Health Check Wales and subsequent annual testing. Prior to 2008, testing intervals ranged between 1-4 years and may not provide a directly comparable disease picture.

The Wales TB dashboard demonstrates our commitment to providing transparent, easily accessible TB information. Charts displaying data for a range of disease indicators are included, allowing users to identify trends in the disease picture over time.
