Will the Cabinet Secretary comment on concerns raised relating to speeding traffic on the A5 near and through Betws-y-Coed, Conwy, and advise as to the results and recommendations of the most recent speed survey in this area?

Road safety is of paramount importance.  As part of our Safe Routes to Trunk Road Schools initiative we installed part time 20mph speed restrictions in the vicinity of Ysgol Betws-Y-Coed in 2016/17.

 

The latest Speed Limit Review recommended gateway signing and road marking improvement works in Betws-y-Coed which have recently been carried out.  The Review also recommended a 40mph limit at Capel Curig, just north of Betws-y-Coed which was implemented in 2017/18.  In addition, there is an ongoing Collision Investigation and Prevention study on the A5 from Betws-y-Coed to Llyn Ogwen.
