What consideration will the Cabinet Secretary give to calls for hair and beauty to be designated as a named economy within the foundation economy in Wales?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Transport | Answered on 24/05/2018

The Welsh Government recognises that the hair and beauty sector offers valuable employment and training opportunities for people across Wales. The Welsh Government supports a range of training to support the hair and beauty sector. During 2016/17 there were 810 apprenticeship programme starts and 2,890 further education learner starts in the sector. The Welsh Government also supports the sector through its Business Wales service, which provides Welsh micro-businesses and SMEs, and aspiring entrepreneurs of all ages with the information, advice and support they require to start and grow their businesses. The Welsh Government would welcome proposals from the sector on how the sector can help deliver the calls to action set out in the Welsh Government's Economic Action Plan.
