Will the Cabinet Secretary explain why there are no engagement events for the Welsh Government's review into the role of community and town councils being hosted in South Wales West, and will the Cabinet Secretary add such an event to the list to make up for this?

An independent Panel is undertaking the review of community and town councils in Wales. It is a matter for the Panel to determine the location of their engagement events.

During March, the Panel are hosting five regional engagement events across Wales – including in Carmarthen. Events are also being held in Caernarfon, Wrexham, Newtown and Old St Mellons in Cardiff.

Recognising these events may not be convenient for all, the Panel have established other avenues of engagement. This includes an open call for written evidence, an online sector survey and separate public survey, inviting individual town and community councils to give oral evidence and visits to individual Community and Town Councils across Wales. In addition, the Panel is using wider stakeholder events held across Wales to gather views, including events and meetings hosted by One Voice Wales, Society of Local Council Clerks, PLANED, the WCVA and the WLGA.
