How many looked after children went on to attend Oxbridge in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017, with each year shown separately?
Historically, we have not collected destination data on looked after children who have left compulsory education.
The Welsh Government has sought to improve the quality and reliability of data it collects on vulnerable groups such as looked after children. Our looked after children in education plan Raising the ambitions and educational attainment of children who are looked after in Wales (January 2016) contains six themes, one of which is making better use of data.
We are currently exploring the opportunities offered through the annual matched dataset, which allows analysis on learners’ progression/destination, with regard to looked after children.
