Will the Cabinet Secretary publish the Welsh Government’s assessment on how many additional: a) police officers and b) social workers will be required in the first five years should the defence of reasonable chastisement be removed to deal with complaints and allegations against parents?
A draft Regulatory Impact Assessment was published as part of the consultation exercise on legislative proposals to remove the defence of reasonable punishment on 9 January 2018.
The Welsh Government will continue to engage with key stakeholders and use responses to the consultation in order to further inform and develop the assessment of the potential impact of the legislation. A full Regulatory Impact Assessment would be published alongside a Bill at introduction to the National Assembly for Wales.
