Will the Welsh Government explore shared apprenticeships across the hospitality, retail and tourism sectors so that small businesses can take advantage of the offer?

Answered by Minister for Lifelong Learning and Welsh Language | Answered on 11/01/2018

Our current commitment is to continue to support our existing Shared Apprenticeship initiatives across Wales in the Construction and Engineering sectors.

Our new priorities will be aligned to the Valleys Taskforce plan, “Our Valleys, Our Future”, covering the South Wales Valleys of Rhondda Cynon Taff, Merthyr Tydfil, Caerphilly, Blaenau Gwent and Torfaen.  We have committed to delivering Shared Apprenticeship initiatives to stimulate the market in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), Health, Tourism, Hospitality, Farming, Woodland Management and Micro-hydro Technology.

We are always willing to consider robust business cases for innovative Shared Apprenticeship opportunities and I understand providers in Pembrokeshire are developing proposals in hospitality for officials to consider with reference to emerging Regional Skills partnership priorities.
