How much publicly-owned land and property has the Welsh Government earmarked for development and what will be the nature of such development?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Local Government | Answered on 27/09/2017

The responsibility and control for the designation of land and property for development (including publicly owned assets) sits with local planning authorities. Local planning authorities in Wales have a statutory duty to prepare a local development plan within the framework set by national planning policy.

The Welsh Government provides support to public bodies so that public land can be brought forward for development. I refer you to the recently published report on the Welsh Public Sector Collaborative Estate Initiative – Cwm Taf pilot, which was funded by the Welsh Government.
